NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Softball team (37–11, 21–5 MVC) closed out its home schedule, defeating Saint Louis 3–0 on Senior Day to secure the series win at E.S. Rose Park.
Prior to the game, Belmont honored six seniors—Ellie Giles, Maya Johnson, Nicole Hughes, Brenna Blume, Daria Haynie, and Emily Konz—for their contributions to the program.
VS Saint Louis – Game 2 (3–0)
Belmont broke through in the third inning, stringing together timely hits to take control. Lauren Luciani and Emily Konz reached base to set the table before Nicole Hughes delivered a clutch two-RBI double to right center, giving the Bruins a 2–0 lead.
The Bruins added an insurance run in the fourth inning. Lydia Vanderwoude reached on an error and advanced into scoring position before coming home on a sacrifice RBI from Tallulah Eichholz to extend the lead to 3–0.
Defensively, Belmont continued to make key plays, highlighted by strong efforts from Daria Haynie in left field, including multiple key catches to limit Saint Louis opportunities.
Ellie Giles, now 4-2 in the circle, delivered a standout performance, tossing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just two hits while striking out five, earning her first shutout of the season and recording her 50th strikeout of her career.
