• Ran a season best time of 23:51.0 in the 8K at the Joe Paine Notre Dame Invitational (10/4)
• Placed 50th overall at the NCAA South Regional Championship (11/15) with a 10K time of 31:23.6

Prior to Belmont: Hammel competed at Furman during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. While with the Paladins, Hammel earned multiple awards, including 2020 Southern Conference Cross Country Freshman of the Year, 2021 Southern Conference All-Freshman Indoor Track (5,000m), 2020 All-Southern Conference Cross Country (second team), 2020 Southern Conference All-Freshman Cross Country, and 2021 Southern Conference All-Freshman Outdoor Track (10,000m).

At his most recent stop, Hammel ran for Florida State from 2021-2024, recorded three top-50 performances for the Seminoles, and finished 94th at the ACC Championships his last season with a time of 25:06.8 in the 8K.
