- 80 percent of residents are unemployed.Â
- 49 percent of residents live below the federal poverty line.Â
- 61 percent of residents below the age of 18 live below the poverty line.Â
- The per-capita income makes it the second poorest county in the United States, at $6,286.Â
Our focus during our time there, was to spend time with the children of Red Cloud Indian School. We taught their PE classes and spent time with them sharing our story, and hearing theirs. Being able to laugh and play with these children provided a great platform for us to share the hope, joy and love we find in Christ.
In the afternoons we played open gym with the high school students at Red Cloud. Being able to compete with them opened up amazing relationships. It was a special time being able to interact with children from 1st grade all the way up to seniors in high school.Â
