Lindsey Wheeley

Lindsey Wheeley is entering her 21th season as the head cheerleading coach for Belmont University.

Prior to arriving at Belmont, Lindsey graduated from the University of Alabama where she was a cheerleader for the Crimson Tide. During the summers she instructed cheerleaders all over the mid-south region as a Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) staff instructor. She also danced professionally for the NHL's Nashville Predators.

During her time at Belmont, Lindsey formed the program's first-ever competition squad in 2009 when they began competing locally. The program then raised the bar by competing at UCA College Nationals in Orlando, FL - the most prestigious collegiate national championship in the country - in Division 1 Large Coed in 2010, 2011, 2015 and 2016. All teams respectfully placed in the top 10 and notably received 4th place in 2015.

Under Wheeley's leadership, the Belmont Cheerleaders have been known for the strong emphasis they put on their Game Day performance at basketball games. In 2016 the program was awarded “Top Gameday Performance” by the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). During the COVID-19 pandemic the cheerleaders were unable to attend UCA College Nationals in person, but competed virtually in the Division 1 Small Coed Game Day category and received 4th place.

Lindsey says her true passion over the years has become the relationships she's built with current cheerleaders and alumni and striving to ensure her athletes can reach their full potential.

Lindsey and her husband Adam have one son (Barrett) and reside in Nashville.
