Prior to Belmont: Mathews helped his team earn a 5th place finish in the Kentucky State Cross Country Championships in 2024, and has individually finished 8th (2024) and 2nd (2022). He is 10-time All-State runner, 4-time New Balance Indoor National qualifier, and broke the state record in the 3200m with a time of 9:09.19.
