A native of Indianapolis, Ind., Casavant is a graduate of Michigan State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. While in East Lansing, Casavant was a four-year letter-winner for the Spartans in cross country and track, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors all four years. She was also part of the 2007 Michigan State cross country team that finished fifth at the NCAA Cross Country National Championships.
During her time at Belmont, Casavant has coached two conference Freshman of the Year, two Individual OVC Champions (1 cross country, 1 track), 17 all-conference track runners, and one Female Athlete of the Year.
In 2013, Casavant helped guide the women's cross country team to a second consecutive runner-up finish at the OVC Conference meet. Hannah Wittman placed third en route to First Team All-OVC honors, while Molly Foster earned OVC Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-OVC honors. Maggie Harahan also received Second Team All-OVC honors.
A year prior, Casavant coached Mia Elbon to an OVC Individual Championship with a time of 17:24 for the 5K, making Elbon the third-ever Belmont XC Conference Champion for the women, and led the team to a runner-up finish in their first season in the OVC Conference. Elbon was dubbed the OVC “Athlete of the Championship” and went on to finish 23rd in the NCAA South Regional, earning All-South Region honors.
Casavant earned her master's degree in Sport Administration from Belmont University in 2012. She is a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach.
