Frye helped the throws crew maintain consistency as the Bruins transitioned from the OVC to the Missouri Valley Conference in 2022. Bo Miller also became the first MVC champion on the men’s side with an impressive javelin heave (57.02m).

Originally from Higgins Lake, Mich., Joe developed into one of the most decorated student-athletes in Belmont's NCAA Division I era.  Throughout his time as a thrower at Belmont, Joe was tagged Belmont "Athlete of the Year" as well as the Atlantic Sun Conference's "Most Valuable Performer" in 2010.  He was an NSCA All-American, as well as a USTFCCCA All-Academic scholar-athlete. Competing professionally after his time as a Belmont athlete, Frye qualified for a total of 9 indoor and 4 outdoor USA National Championships, with a highest finish of 4th overall. Joe was also a contender at the 2016 USA Track and Field Olympic Trials in the hammer throw.
