JJ Butler begins his first season with the Belmont men's basketball coaching staff in 2025-26.

Butler spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Delaware.
 
“JJ Butler is a great addition to our staff,” Alexander said. “As a player, I admired JJ’s energy, ability to communicate, and leadership. It has been great to follow his coaching career and we fully expect him to make our staff better.”
 
Prior to Delaware, Butler served as head coach at Chesnut Hill (Pa.) College and assistant coach at Susquehanna University.
 
Butler played for Alexander at Lipscomb University, earning his bachelor’s degree in corporate management finance in 2016.
 
Butler is a native of Abingdon, Maryland.
