Box Score CLEVELAND, Ohio - - Belmont University men's soccer fell to the Vikings of Cleveland State, 4-0, Wednesday afternoon.
After an even first half, the Bruins let up the first goal to the Vikings just before the halftime whistle. Cleveland State's Cazz Warren scored in the 41st minute to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead heading into the half.
The second half became increasingly physical as each team was issued two yellow cards in the half.
The Bruins had 15 fouls in the match compared to the 12 by the Vikings.
The Vikings pushed their offensive assault with three more additional goals in the second half.
Jacob Naumann scored moments after the second half kickoff to extend the margin to 2-0.
Cleveland State's Warren scored his second of the match in the 71st minute to bring the score to 3-0. Then in the 71st minute Mike Derezic extended the Viking lead to 4-0.
The Viking netminder kept the Bruins at bay, posting six saves on the afternoon.
The Bruins were also outshot in the match, 12-7, managing only one shot in the second half.
Sheldon Medici made three saves in relief duty for Belmont.
The Bruins (4-7-1) will continue action next Tuesday on the road at N.C. State at 6:00 p.m.
