Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont University men's soccer team was edged, 1-0, Saturday afternoon by Nebraska Omaha as the Bruins returned home after nearly a month away from Rose Park.
Omaha (3-7-1) notched the lone goal of the contest midway though the first half when UNO's Jesus Perez took a pass from Mark Moulton shortly after entering the match and found the back of the nets off a kick from the top of the box.
The Bruins, showing weary legs coming off a six-game road trip, failed to capitalize offensively the rest of the way.
Belmont (4-5-2) recorded a slim shot advantage on the match (15-14) but the Mavericks held the advantage on shots-on-goal (6-4).
Bruin forward AJ Arnold (Jackson, Miss.) led Belmont offensively as the freshman recorded a match-best seven shots on the afternoon, three of which were on goal.
The Bruins were playing shorthanded as usual starter Raphael Colmanette (Sao Paulo, Brazil) is still recovering from a broken nose suffered in the match Tuesday at Missouri State.
Colmanatte has proven to be a key part in Belmont's offense this season as the sophomore forward currently leads the in assists and is second on the squad in goals scored.
Belmont goalkeeper Grayson Rector (Peachtree City, Ga.) suffered the loss on the contest but the rookie recorded five saves on the afternoon for the Bruins.
Belmont hits the road once again on Tuesday, Oct. 15, as the Bruins begin a three-game road swing with a stop in Peoria, Ill. as BU faces Bradley at 6 p.m. CT.
