Box Score PEORIA, Ill. - The Belmont men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Bradley University Tuesday afternoon at BU's Shea Stadium.
The match remained scoreless through much of the first half but a Belmont miscue in the 35th minute put Bradley on the board first as the Braves scored off an own goal error by the Bruins.
The Braves took the slim, 1-0, advantage into halftime.
"I felt that for the most part we controlled the tempo in the first half," said Belmont head coach Earle Davidson. "Unfortunately their score late in the half was an error on our part."
Bradley (6-4-2) extended its lead early in the second half when the Braves' leading scorer Alon Badat took a deflection and punched in his fourth goal of the season in the 50th minute of the match.
Badat's goal proved to be the final score of the afternoon as the shorthanded Bruins failed to generate enough offense the rest of the way.
Belmont (4-6-2) was once again playing without point leader Raphael Colmanette (Sao Paulo, Brazil) for the second straight match as the sophomore forward is still recovering from a broken nose suffered against Missouri State.
"For the most part, we forced them to shoot from distance and Grayson did a good job at taking care of it," said Davidson. "Overall, I felt we played a good game against a very good Bradley squad."
Belmont goalkeeper Grayson Rector (Peachtree City, Ga.) recorded a match-best six saves on the contest, four of those coming in the first half.
The Bruins return to action on Saturday as Belmont travels to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats at 3 p.m. CT.
