Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Belmont University men's soccer team fell to Georgia State, 2-1, in the Bruins season finale Friday evening at the GSU Soccer Complex.
Georgia State lit up the scoreboard first when GSU midfielder Cory Plasker took a pass from forward Jamal Keene and notched his second goal on the season in the 34th minute of the match.
Keene wasn't finished, however, as the senior notched his fifth goal of the season in the 42nd minute of the first half as the Panthers took a 2-0 lead heading into the half.
Belmont (6-10-2) started its rally midway through the second stanza when sophomore Alfred Edmonds (San Jose, Calif.) took a pass from senior Nico Olsak (Boca Raton, Fla.) and sophomore Joonas Bask (Finland) to record his team-best sixth goal on the season in the 71st minute of the match.
The rally fell short for the Bruins as Georgia State (9-9-1) was able to hold on for the 2-1 victory after a pair of Belmont shots in the final ten mintues failed to reach the back of the net.
"I felt we played pretty well in the first half, but the guys played terrific in the second half," Belmont head coach Earle Davidson said. "I am proud of the quality of the effort the guys put into the match, but we are all disappointed with the result."
Olsak, playing in his final match as a Bruin, recorded his third assist on the season which ranks second on the team.
For his career, the senior finishes with 25 career assists, which ranks as the most all time in Belmont men's soccer history.
On the match, Belmont held a 16-12 shot advantage over GSU, including a 9-6 advantage on shots-on-goal.
Olsak led the charge for the Bruins in recording four shots, three of them on-goal.
Belmont goalkeeper Grayson Rector (Peachtree City, Ga.) concluded his freshman campaign with four saves on the contest for the Bruins.
