Box Score PEORIA, Ill. - - Belmont University men's soccer dropped a 2-1 decision at Bradley Tuesday night.
Venturing out of Horizon League play following Saturday's emotional victory over Green Bay, the Bruins continued the positive momentum.
In the eighth minute, freshman Rashad Hyacenth (D'Abadie, Trinidad & Tobago) capitalized on a feed from senior Tyler Vieth (Evansville, Ind.) and chipped Bradley goalkeeper Shay Niemeyer from 30 yards out to give Belmont a 1-0 lead.
After some quality work by sophomore Grayson Rector (Peachtree City, Ga.) in net, freshman Adriano Balani (Durres, Albania) missed wide left on his second opportunity of the opening 45.
Moments later in the 29th minute, Clark Emerson equalized off a Braves' corner kick.
Sophomore Nat Hubert (Chichester, England) and senior Joao Fonseca (Aracaju, Brazil) would have scoring chances denied late in the half.
Both sides displayed purposeful soccer as the play grew increasingly physical in the second 45.
The host Braves created a number of threats after intermission, but the Bruins' backline kept Rector out of harms way.
Then following a quality chance for junior Joonas Bask (Finland) in the 74th minute, Bradley grabbed a 2-1 advantage with nine minutes left on a Grant Bell goal.
Belmont had one final chance in the waning moments, but Balani's hopeful blast missed the frame.
Belmont (3-13-0, 1-5-0 Horizon) returns to action Saturday, Nov. 1 versus Detroit. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. CT from E.S. Rose Park. The match will be broadcast live on the Horizon League Network.
