Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont volleyball recorded its third consecutive sweep Tuesday evening as the Bruins defeated Tennessee State (9-21, 3-12 OVC) in three sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-15) in the Curb Event Center.
Senior Kelsi Dean (Marietta, Ga.) led the offensive charge for the Bruins as Belmont posted its third highest team hitting percentage on the year, finishing with a .324 clip against the Tigers.
With her career winding down at the Curb Event Center, Dean had a career night for the Bruins as the opposite hitter only needed 16 swings in order to post a career-best 10 kills. Dean's .562 hitting percentage also proved to be a career-high for the veteran.
BU's Arianna Person (Lenexa, Kan.) once again had a solid night both offensively and defensively for the Bruins as the rookie finished with a near double-double of 11 kills and eight digs.
Freshman setter Emily Richards (Penfield, N.Y.) led the Bruins with 15 digs as BU held TSU to a .104 hitting percentage on the night.
With the victory, the Bruins have clinched the second seed in the upcoming Ohio Valley Conference Tournament set to begin on Thursday, Nov. 20, and last through Saturday, Nov. 22.
The tournament is slated to be held on the campus of top seeded Murray State.
Belmont (16-13, 12-3 OVC) concludes its 2014 regular season this Saturday as the Bruins host SIU Edwardsville at 2 p.m. CT at the Curb Event Center.
Saturday's contest will also be senior day as the Bruins plan on honoring its outstanding senior class prior to the match against the Cougars.
