LEDBETTER, Ky. – The Belmont women's golf team finished in seventh place at the Drake Creek Invitational held this week at the Drake Creek Golf Course in Ledbetter, Kentucky.
The Bruins posted a team score of 309 in Tuesday's final round to finish the tournament in seventh place at 925. Western Kentucky won the team title with a score of 886, while the Murray State "B" team finished second at 897. Akron and Murray State "A" tied for third at 908.
Two Belmont golfers finished among the top-20 at this week's event. Senior Abbie Gregory led BU with a tie for 12th place at 227. She carded a 72 in Tuesday's final round. She finished 10 shots behind individual medalist, Mary Joiner of Western Kentucky. Sophomore Emma Kate Liu finished in a tie for 17th place at 230 as she shot a 79 in the final round.
Other Belmont scores from the event included: junior Mallory Sullivan (T-22, 232), senior Megan Heath (T-36, 236), and junior Maddie Williams (55th, 250).
Three Bruins competed as individuals: senior Alexi Bevans (T-46, 242), freshman Julia Nittoli (T-52, 248), and freshman Carlee Nanney (54th, 249).
The women's golf team will be back in action on Friday, September 30 as they face Lipscomb and Tennessee State in a tri-match at Nashville's McCabe Golf Course.
