Belmont-Southeast Missouri Game Preview

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action Saturday vs. Southeast Missouri.

Belmont defeated UT Martin, 83-67, Thursday. Senior Nick Smith (Bentonville, Ark.) scored a career-high 30 points for the Bruins. Belmont made a program record 14 3-pointers in the first half.

Senior Evan Bradds (Jamestown, Ohio) has scored in double figures in each of his three meetings with Southeast Missouri. He had 13 points and 14 rebounds last season. Bradds was selected as a candidate for the 2016-17 Senior CLASS Award earlier this week.

Bradds and Southeast Missouri senior Antonius Cleveland are the top two active career scorers and rebounders in the OVC.

Ian Clark and Trevor Noack each scored 30 points in the game four seasons ago at the Curb Event Center - becoming the first teammates in the nation to score 30 or more points in the same game in the 2012-13 campaign.

Southeast Missouri guard Jamaal Calvin is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduated from The McCallie School, the same high school that produced former Belmont Baseball pitching ace Chase Brookshire ('13). Brookshire pitched a two-hitter against Oklahoma State in the 2011 NCAA Tournament to lead Belmont to victory.

This marks the fifth meeting between Belmont and Southeast Missouri.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT from the Curb Event Center. The game will be broadcast on OVC Digital Network. The live play-by-play of Voice of the Bruins Kevin Ingram can be heard on the Bruin Sports Network. In-game updates will be available via Twitter @BelmontMBB.
