Third Place Start at ASU

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in third place after day one of the Lady Redwolves Classic held Monday at Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Belmont posted scores of 328 and 312 on day one to finish the day in third place at 640.  Host Arkansas State leads with a mark of 610, while William Woods is in second at 637.

Two Bruins rank among the top-10 after 36 holes.  Freshman Maribeth Peevy, among the starting five for the first time, carded two rounds of 78 to finish the day in seventh place at 156.  She is eight shots behind the individual leader, Sarah Childers of Arkansas State.  Senior Mallory Sullivan is tied for eighth place at 157 after shooting rounds of 76 and 81.

Other Belmont scores from Monday included: freshman Ann Catherine Blackburn (T-15, 163), sophomore Carlee Nanney (19th, 165), junior Emma Kate Liu (20th, 171).

Senior Maddie Williams, competing as an individual, is tied for 15th at 163.

The third and final round begins Tuesday morning at 8:00am.
