NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action Thursday vs. Eastern Kentucky.
Belmont dropped an 83-70 decision at Tennessee Tech Feb. 11 to snap a 14-game win streak and NCAA-best 10-game road win streak. Senior Evan Bradds (Jamestown, Ohio) had a team-high 16 points for the Bruins.
Bradds has a younger brother, Ethan, who has committed to play football at Eastern Kentucky. Ethan, a 6-4, 250-pound senior tight end at Greeneview High School, will enroll at Eastern Kentucky in the fall.
Senior Taylor Barnette and Eastern Kentucky junior Dillon Avare are both natives of Lexington, Kentucky. Barnette and Avare have been playing basketball with and against each other for years, as Barnette attended Lexington Christian HS and Avare attended Lexington Catholic HS.
Former Belmont standout J.J. Mann ('14) and former Eastern Kentucky standout Corey Walden are each playing professionally in Belgium.
Sophomore Kevin McClain scored 11 points at Eastern Kentucky (1/14/17), one of 11 career double figure scoring games.
In Belmont's first season in the OVC, Belmont set a new NCAA era single-game field goal percentage standard (.674) in an 85-74 victory at Eastern Kentucky (1/26/13).
