RICHMOND, Ky. – The Belmont women's golf team is in eighth place after day one of the EKU Colonel Classic held this week at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Kentucky.
The Bruins carded rounds of 314 and 318 for a 632 total and an eighth place position. Ball State has the team lead at 600, while host Eastern Kentucky is second at 611.
Two Belmont golfers are among the top-20 after 36 holes. Junior Mallory Sullivan and senior Abbie Gregory are tied for 15th place at 156 as each shot rounds of 77 and 79. Tennessee Tech's Allyson Dunn has the individual lead at 143.
Other Belmont scores from day one included: sophomore Emma Kate Liu (T-36, 160) and senior Megan Heath (T-45, 162). Freshman Julia Nittoli withdrew after round one.
Two other Bruins are competing as individuals: freshman Carlee Nanney (T-15, 156) and redshirt junior Maddie Williams (T-30, 159).
The third and final round will begin Saturday morning with a 7:30am CT shotgun start.
