MURRAY, Ky. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in seventh place after day one of the Murray State/Jan Weaver Invitational held Friday at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Kentucky.
It was tale of two different rounds for the Bruins on Friday. In the first round, BU struggled to a score of 328, but bounced back in the second round with a 311 to finish the day in seventh place at 639. Host Murray State has the lead at 596, while Western Kentucky is second at 618.
Two Bruins rank among the top-30 after 36 holes. Senior Megan Heath leads the team as she is tied for seventh place at 153. She carded rounds of 78 and 75 and is five shots behind individual leader Moa Folke of Murray State (148).
Junior Mallory Sullivan is tied for 28th place after shooting two rounds of 80 for a 36-hole total of 160.
Other Belmont scores from day one included: senior Abbie Gregory (37th, 162), sophomore Emma Kate Liu (T-41, 164), and freshman Carlee Nanney (53rd, 169).
Redshirt junior Maddie Williams is competing as an individual and is in 55th place at 171.
Two other BU golfers withdrew after the first round due to injury: Julia Nittoli and Alexi Bevans.
The third and final round will begin Saturday morning with an 8:30am shotgun start.
