SEWANEE, Tenn. – On a beautiful September day on Monteagle Mountain, the Belmont women's golf team defeated Sewanee 4.5 to 2.5 in a dual match held Saturday at The Course at Sewanee in Sewanee, Tennessee.
In the first match, Sewanee's Meghan Symonds defeated senior Mallory Sullivan 4&3. Belmont bounced back in match two as junior Emma Kate Liu beat Sarah Battye 6&5.
Sewanee took match three as Sophie Morrill defeated sophomore Julia Nittoli 7&6. BU's Carlee Nanney evened the match as she outlasted Natalie Javadi 3-up.
Senior Maddie Williams clinched the victory for Belmont as she defeated Caroline Cole 6&5.
The final two matches saw freshman Ann Catherine Blackburn beat Mallory Sheehan 7&6, while fellow freshman Maribeth Peevy halved her match with Corrinne Parrish.
The women's golf team is back in action on September 11-12 at the NKU Fall Invitational in Batavia, Ohio.
