SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. -- The Belmont women's golf team stands in seventh place after round one of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate hled on the Highlands Course at Seveierville Golf CLub in Sevierville, Tennessee.
Belmont carded a first round score of 318 to finish the day in seventh place. Jacksonville State has the team lead at 299, while Marshall is second at 306.
Two Bruins are among the top-20 after the first round. Junior Emma Kate Liu shot a 74 on Sunday to finish the day tied for sixth place. She is six shots behind tournament leader, Valentina Giraldo of Jacksonville State (68). Freshman Maribeth Peevy continued her consistent play as she posted a 78 to end the round in a tie for 17th place.
Other BU scores from day one included: sophomore Carlee Nanney (T-39, 83), freshman Ann Catherine Blackburn (T-39, 83), and sophomore Julia Nittoli (49th, 86).
Seniors Mallory Sullivan and Maddie Williams are competing as individuals. Sullivan is tied for eighth with a 75, while Williams is tied for 43rd at 84.
The second round will begin on Monday morning with a 7:30am shotgun start.
