Women's Golf

Headed to the Bluegrass State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's golf team heads to the Bluegrass State for this weekend's EKU Colonel Classic held Friday and Saturday in Richmond, Kentucky.

The squad comes into this week's event hoping to maintain the momentum from their fourth place finish at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate last week.  At that event, they were led by junior Emma Kate Liu, who tied for fifth place with a 54-hole score of 223, her lowest of the season.

Senior Mallory Sullivan continues to pace the Bruins in scoring.  She has an average of 77.6 and has five top-10 finishes.  Freshman Maribeth Peevy ranks second in scoring at 78.8 with three top-10 finishes.

This weekend's Colonel Classic is a two-day, 54-hole event, with 36 holes on Friday and 18 on Saturday.  Hosted by Eastern Kentucky, it will be contested at the University Club at Arlington, which will play to a par 72 and a length of 5,815 yards.  The field features 15 teams, including four OVC schools: host EKU, Belmont, Austin Peay, and Tennessee Tech.

Day one play will begin Friday morning with a 7:30am CT shotgun start.  Live scoring can be found at BelmontBruins.com or Golfstat.com.
