Seventh Place Start in the Shoals

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. -- Dealing with tough weather conditions, the Belmont women's golf team  stand in seventh place after round one of the OVC Championship held on the Schoolmaster Course at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

With temperatures in the 40s and winds gusting over 20 miles per hour, the Bruins struggled to find birdies and finished the day in seventh place with a team score of 319.  Murray State has the team lead at 307, with Jacksonville State in second at 308.

Two Belmont golfers are among the top-15 after 18 holes.  Senior Mallory Sullivan is tied for 10th place after carding a five over par 77.  She is five shots behind the individua leader, Lucila Puente Rodriguez of Murray State (72).  Junior Emma Kate Liu is one shot back in a tie for 13th place after shooting a 78.

Freshmen Maribeth Peevy and Ann Catherine Blackburn are each tied for 26th place att 82, while sophomore Carlee Nanney is tied for 30th place at 84.

The secound round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:00am.  Belmont will tee off from the first hole from 8:00-8:40am.
