MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team improved their score from round one, but still remain in seventh place after two rounds of the OVC Championship held this week on the Schoolmaster Course at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
On a warm, sunny Tuesday, just the opposite from the day before, Belmont improved their team score by three shots to 316, but still remained in seventh place with a 36-hole mark of 635. They are five shots behind fifth place Morehead State and just three behind sixth place Tennessee Tech. Murray State has the team lead at 595, with Jacksonville State in second at 603.
Two Bruins are among the top-20 after two days. Junior Emma Kate Liu posted a 79 on Tuesday to finish the day in 15th place at 157. Sophomore Carlee Nanney shot a team-low 75 to move up to a tie for 19th place at 159.
Freshman Maribeth Peevy and senior Mallory Sullivan are each tied for 26th place at 161, while freshman Ann Catherine Blackburn is tied for 34th at 165.
Murray State's Moa Folke has the individual lead at 142.
The third and final round will begin Wednesday morning at 8:00am. Belmont will tee off from the first hole from 8:00-8:40am.
