MURRAY, Ky. – The Belmont women's golf teams stands in eighth place after day one of the Jan Weaver Invitational hosted by Murray State at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Kentucky.
Belmont carded rounds of 305 and 304 on Friday to finish the day in eighth place at 609. Central Arkansas leads the event at 584, with host Murray State in second at 597.
Two Bruins are among the top-20 after 36 holes. Junior Emma Kate Liu is tied for 13th place at 149. She shot rounds of 74 and 75 on day one. She is six shots behind individual leader Emma Svensson of Central Arkansas (143). Freshman Maribeth Peevy is one shot behind Liu and tied for 16th place at 150. She posted rounds of 76 and 74.
Other Belmont scores from day one included: senior Mallory Sullivan (T-40, 155), freshman Ann Catherine Blackburn (T-46, 156), and sophomore Carlee Nanney (T-51, 151).
Two Bruins are competing as individuals. Sophomore Julia Nittoli is tied for 66th place at 163, while senior Maddie Williams is 73rd at 166.
The third and final round will begin Saturday morning with an 11:00am shotgun start. The start may be delayed as snow is forecasted in Murray on Friday night.
