NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Behind 24 points from sophomore Adam Kunkel (Hebron, Ky.), Belmont University men's basketball defeated Kennesaw State, 83-44, Wednesday night.

Kunkel went 10-for-15 from the field, including 3-for-6 from 3-point distance.

Belmont led 32-20 at halftime, and scored 21 of the first 23 points of the second half.

A transition 3-pointer from sophomore Tate Pierson (Brentwood, Tenn.) made the score 53-22 with 13:11 remaining.

Belmont shot 54 percent (34-for-63) from the field, including 62 percent in the second half.

The Bruins limited Kennesaw State to 32 percent shooting and forced 19 turnovers.

Graduate student Tyler Scanlon (Centreville, Va.) added 12 points and freshman Mitch Listau (Waunakee, Wis.) had 10.

11 different Belmont players scored.

Tyler Hooker led Kennesaw State (1-10) with 15 points.

Belmont has won 117 of its last 126 home games, and has won 12 consecutive meetings with Kennesaw State.

Belmont (8-3) returns to game action Saturday, Dec. 21 vs. Alabama. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m. CT from the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network and Bruin Sports Network.
