MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A sultry night in Memphis resulted in a 2-2 tie to complete the Belmont University men's soccer program's 2021 preseason. Senior defender John Bannec scored off a corner kick from senior forward Niccolo Dagnoni in the 58th minute, knotting up the score at two apiece after a pair of early second-half goals by host Memphis.
Showing resiliency in their second and final exhibition, the Bruins overcame the 2-1 deficit on a fourth-straight Dagnoni corner with Bannec's equalizer.
Belmont took a 1-0 lead in the opening half of play thanks to a beautiful 32nd-minute cross from Dagnoni. Sophomore midfielder AJ Chastonay scored the go-ahead goal with a perfectly timed tap-in after cutting up the middle of the field.
The Tigers scored both of their goals within the first 10 minutes of the second half.
