The Snowman

The Snowman tournament at Mississippi State is extremely important to the softball community as it honors the legendary spirit of Alex Wilcox and the "No one Fights Alone" campaign. Wilcox was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2015. Defying the odds Wilcox competed for Brantley High School while undergoing treatments helping her team to two state championships. In 2017, Wilcox was a Top 50 recruit and committed to Mississippi State in her junior year. Wilcox reached the Division I level and appeared in eight contests for the Bulldogs starting in three all while undergoing chemotherapy treatments. The Bulldogs continue to wear teal uniforms to raise awareness for ovarian cancer in honor of Alex Wilcox who passed away at age 18 after a courageous battle with the disease. Mississippi State retired her No. 8 jersey making her the first female student-athlete in Mississippi State history to have her jersey retired.
