NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University Softball takes on Nashville native in a midweek double header on Tuesday, March 29. The games were originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 30 but have been moved up due to impending inclement weather.

  • Belmont softball is on a nine game winning streak, tying the winning streak from the programs first season in 1995

  • The Bruins are 6-0 in conference, making it the best conference start in program history

  • The Bruins are first in OVC in three additional categories, batting average (.316), on base percentage (.401), and scoring (137)

  • Pitcher Emma Summers is ahead of the pack in the OVC in her strikeout-to-walk ratio, sixth nationally, and walks allowed per seven innings, seventh nationally 

  • Belmont swept SIUE in their most recent matchup 

  • Against the Cougars Bruins tallied 20 runs, 27 hits, 19 RBI, 19 strikeouts, with only 5 walks, and two errors 

About Tennessee State University

  • The Tigers are 11-18 on the season and 2-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference

  • TSU fell to Southeast Missouri and all three contests while beating Easter Illinois in the first two games falling in the last 

  • Anayah Baker-Rowell, the Tiger's third baseman was named the OVC Player to Watch 

  • The OVC predicted order of finish placed TSU right above Belmont in the seventh spot

Series History 

  • The Bruins lead the series history against the Tigers 23-7, 17-4 in conference play

  • In 2021 the Bruins posted four wins and three shutouts over the Tigers

  • The Tigers last win over the Bruins was in 2018

Up Next: 

The Bruins head to UT Martin to compete in a three game matchup against the Skyhawks starting with a double header on Saturday, April 2 and a final game on Sunday April 3.
