NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Former Belmont University men's basketball standout Austin Luke ('18) has signed a professional playing contract with Helios Suns Fomzale in Slovenia, according to multiple media reports.
Last season, Luke teamed up with former Belmont teammate Amanze Egekeze to lead Donar Groningen in Holland to the regular season league cup.
Luke averaged 13.5 points and 8.0 assists per game in the FIBA Europe Cup.
In 2020-21, the 6-3 guard earned Eurobasket.com All-Dutch League honors after averaging 17.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, a league-best 9.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game for Yoast United.
Luke led Yoast United to the DBL Cup final, recording 52 points, eight rebounds and eight assists vs. Landstede in the semifinal round.
He played 22 games in 2019-20 for Melilla Baloncesto in Spain.
Luke spent the 2018-19 season split between VEF Riga in Latvia and VFL Kirchheim Knights in Germany.
The Rowlett, Texas native handed out 681 assists, second in Belmont's NCAA Division I era and fourth in Ohio Valley Conference history. In fact, only four players in all of college basketball had more career assists than Luke upon his graduation in 2018.
Luke ranked second nationally in assists per game as a junior and fourth as a senior. He was a mainstay in 89 Belmont victories, including three Ohio Valley Conference championship teams.
Luke played in the Bruins' 2015 NCAA Tournament near-upset of No. 2 seed Virginia, and was part of signature victories over Marquette, Georgia, Vanderbilt and nationally-ranked Murray State, among others, during his career.
In 2017-18, Luke joined the select company of Evan Bradds and Craig Bradshaw as the only Belmont players named All-OVC First Team in successive seasons (later joined by Dylan Windler, Nick Muszynski and Grayson Murphy).
A four-time OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll and three-time NABC Honors Court recipient, Luke earned his bachelor's degree in business administration.
Belmont University men's basketball has earned postseason invitations 15 of the last 17 seasons, including nine berths to the NCAA Tournament.
