Women's Soccer to Host Middle Tennessee State

Kickoff is set or 6 p.m. Against Cross State Foe

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Belmont University Women's soccer is set to host cross state foe, Middle Tennessee State at E.S. Rose Park.
 
Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. CT. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
Sunday's match is Kid's Day! Show up early the first 100 fans will receive a pair of Belmont sunglasses. Bruiser will also be making an appearance and the women will be signing autographs post-match.  
 
 
What's Bruin
  • Belmont holds a 1-1 record moving into Sunday
  • In their most recent matchup Belmont fell 2-0 to UNA
  • The Bruins recorded seven shots, seven saves, and four corners against UNA
  • Belmont defeated Union (TN) 3-0 in their season opener
  • Maci Pekmiezian was the first to score on the night, Mai Thy Ngyuen sent in a cross to the top of the box, Pekmezian shifted the ball across her body to send a dagger into the upper 90
  • Two and a half minutes later Avery Nowak sent a long ball from the midfield, Anna Sweeney settled into a one versus one situation with the Bulldog's goalie to secure the second goal of the match
  • In similar fashion Kennedy Wise sent down a long ball into the box, Addy Pitts got a slight touch on it to pull the goalie out, Leah Firsdon finished
  • Belmont recorded 18 shots, 11 shots on goal, and seven corner kicks against Union
  • The Bruins will face the Blue Raiders for the 19th time in program history
  • Middle Tennessee holds the 11-6-1 record over the Bruins
  • Belmont dropped a 1-0 decision to the Middle Tennessee in 2021, a hard-fought battle, the Bruins recorded eight shots, five saves, and three corner kicks
  • The Bruins last defeated the Blue Raiders in 2017, 3-2 with goals scored by graduated Emily Whitcomb, Julie Garst, and Jessie Boozer
  • Belmont is entering their first year in the Missouri Valley Conference after over a decade in the OVC
  • Belmont joins UIC and Murray State as MVC newcomers. 
  • The Bruins have been voted sixth in the MVC preseason poll, receiving one first place vote and 67 voting points from the league coaches
  • Valparaiso was picked as the preseason favorite
  • Belmont will compete against Indiana State, Murray State, Southern Illinois, UIC, Illinois State, Missouri State, Valparaiso, Evansville, Drake, and Northern Iowa in the MVC
