Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. – The Belmont University Volleyball Program (11-16, 5-8 MVC) took on UIC (16-10, 7-6 MVC). The Bruins fell in three to the Flames.
How it Happened
The Bruins hung with the Flames to start set one. With an ace from
Kristen Clemons, Belmont took an early 9-7 lead. UIC then went on an 8-0 run to regain control of the set. The Flames finished the first on top 11-25.
Belmont started off slow but worked their way back in at 7-8 off a kill and an ace from
Emily Warmenhoven. The Bruins and Flames continued to go point for point as
Brenna Kauffeld and
Ally Peterson recorded two kills each to bring Belmont within three at 17-20. UIC then made a final run to take set two 17-25.
Set three was a back-and-forth battle.
Sydney Willis and Kauffeld teamed up for two blocks to push the Bruins within one at 20-21. Despite the late run from the Bruins, the Flames went on to claim set three and the match 23-25.

Belmont will return home to host Southern Illinois (14-10, 6-7 MVC) on Friday at 6 p.m. CT and Missouri State (12-13, 6-7 MVC) on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT in the Curb Event Center. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats can be found on belmontbruins.com.
