TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Belmont University Volleyball Program (12-19, 6-11 MVC) falls in three to Indiana State (5-22, 3-14 MVC).
How it Happened
Belmont started set one on top.
Izzy Schauer served up back-to-back aces to push the Bruins' lead to 7-5.
Ally Peterson later rattled off three straight kills to extend the lead to 20-18. Despite the late run from Peterson, Indiana State went on to claim a close first set 22-25.
The Bruins struggled to get in a rhythm during the second set.
Kamryn Olson and
Alex Williams teamed up for a block followed by a solo stuff from
Emily Warmenhoven to bring Belmont within two at 6-8. ISU went on a 6-0 run midway through the set to gain momentum and eventually take set two 15-25.
ISU got off to a strong start in the third.
Brooke Gilleland ended an early Sycamore run with a kill to bring the Bruins within three at 9-12.
Izzy Schauer added another ace for Belmont down the stretch, but the Sycamores pushed to finish the set and match on top 19-25.
