NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball head coach
Casey Alexander announced Thursday the signing of Jabez 'Bez' Jenkins to a national letter of intent to play basketball for the Bruins, starting in the fall of 2024.

"Bez is extremely talented and his best days as a basketball player are clearly ahead of him," Alexander said. "He possesses tremendous versatility as a player, a high motor and passion for the game, all which excite our coaching staff greatly. In addition, Bez is impactful on both ends of the floor and Belmont fans will love his approach to the game."

The 6-4 guard averaged nine points and four rebounds per game as a junior for Newton High School, where the Rams have made three deep runs in the Georgia High School State Basketball Tournament.

Jenkins burst on the scene after earning an invitation to the Stephen Curry Underrated Camp this past summer, proceeding to win the slam dunk competition in convincing fashion.

The Covington, Georgia native is ranked among the top shooting guards in the state of Georgia by numerous recruiting services, including 247, Rivals, On3, and Sandy's Spiel.

Jenkins is ranked as a Top 50 shooting guard nationally by Rivals, while HoopSeen.com has Jenkins among the fastest-rising players in Georgia.

Jenkins played AAU basketball for Atlanta Xpress and was profiled by Ryze Hoops.

He is from the same high school as Belmont women's basketball signee Sanaa Tripp.

Belmont University men's basketball has been a postseason fixture the last two decades, including nine berths to the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have won 20 conference championships since 2006 - third-most nationally over that span (Gonzaga, Kansas). Belmont has won 20 or more games in 13 consecutive seasons (Gonzaga, Kansas, Oregon) and 19 or game games in 18 consecutive seasons (Gonzaga, Kansas, San Diego State).
