Malik Dia has been Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Dia averaged 18.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game on 54 percent shooting as Belmont defeated Lipscomb and Middle Tennessee to improve to 8-3.

The 6-9 forward recorded his ninth double figure scoring game - and fourth game of 20+ points - with 22 points and four rebounds at Middle Tennessee. He had 15 points and four rebounds vs. Lipscomb.

During Belmont's win streak, Dia is averaging 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game on 58 percent shooting.
