Madison Bartley Earns Second TSWA Player of the Week Award

Junior Forward Picks Up Second Weekly Accolade after Pair of Strong Performances Last Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After leading all scorers in both of Belmont women's basketball's convincing wins last week, junior forward Madison Bartley has earned yet another player of the week honor. For the second time this season, Bartley has been named Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the organization Tuesday morning.

Bartley was also named TSWA Player of the Week on Jan. 24 and claimed her second Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week accolade Monday.

The Kettering, Ohio (Kettering Fairmont HS), native averaged 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks while shooting 51.4 percent (18-of-35) from the field across the Bruins' victories over Murray State and Bradley.

In Belmont's 64-54 home triumph over the Racers last Thursday, Bartley scored 19 points on 8-for-15 shooting and grabbed five rebounds. Of Bartley's 19 points, 11 came in the third quarter as she distributed three assists and came up with a pair of blocks and a steal.

On Sunday afternoon in the Bruins' dominant 68-54 road win over the Braves, Bartley recorded her second double-double of the season and third of her career with 22 points and a game-high 12 boards. Going 10-for-20 from the floor, Bartley scored 13 of her 22 points in the first half and added a block and an assist.

Of Bartley's 17 rebounds on the week, 10 were earned on the offensive glass.

Reaching double figures in seven-straight games, Bartley has led Belmont in scoring for six consecutive contests. Sunday's 22-point performance at Bradley was Bartley's sixth 20-point showing of the season, four of which have taken place over the last six games.

The Bruins host Evansville and Indiana State across homecoming weekend at the Curb Event Center. Belmont welcomes the Purple Aces to the Music City Friday before taking on the Sycamores Sunday afternoon. Friday's tipoff is slated for the 6:30 p.m. The MVC home matchup will be broadcast on ESPN3.
