Baseball Secures Four-Game Sweep With Sunday Shutout

Will Pryor and Ethan Harden Combine to Blank Lindenwood in 3-0 Win

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Belmont University baseball team secured a four-game sweep of Lindenwood on Sunday with a 3-0 shutout victory at E.S. Rose Park.

It marked the second shutout of the weekend, with Will Pryor (W, 2-0) and Ethan Harden (SV, 3) combining to blank the Lions over nine strong innings.

Making his first collegiate start, Pryor impressed with six shutout frames, striking out six batters while scattering three hits and one walk.

Only once all day did Lindenwood get a runner to second base, in the fourth inning.

After starting the game in right field and going 2-for-3 at the plate, Harden moved to the mound to start the seventh inning and delivered three shutout frames for his third save of the season.

The redshirt freshman allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out one in shutting the door on Belmont's fifth win in their last six games.

Offensively, Mason Landers finished 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and two walks to lead the Bruin lineup. Jeff Clarke and Ethan Harden also tallied two hits each.

Just as they had in each of the first three games of the series, Belmont jumped ahead in the first inning, tacking on a pair of runs to take the lead.

On the weekend, Belmont scored 14 of their 26 runs in the first frame.

On Sunday, Max Jones drew a walk and Jeff Clarke reached on a fielder's choice in the opening inning before Mason Landers ripped a double down the line to put men at second and third with one out.

After Clarke scored on a wild pitch, Blake Barton drilled an RBI double down the left field line to drive in Landers and make it 2-0 in favor of Belmont.

With Pryor cruising on the mound, Belmont tacked on an insurance run in the fifth inning when Jones drew another walk and worked his way to third base after a wild pitch and a Clarke groundout.

Landers picked up his team-high tying 16th run batted in of the season with a single to right field, giving the Bruins a 3-0 advantage.

After Pryor exited following the conclusion of the sixth inning on 80 pitches, Harden breezed through the final three frames to hand Belmont their second shutout win of the season.
