Men's Tennis Sweeps Lindenwood 4-0, Wins Seventh-Straight Match

Bruins Earn Sixth Shutout of Season, Move to 5-0 in Horizon League Play

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Matching last year's record of 14-5, the Belmont University men's tennis team wasted no time in dismantling Lindenwood 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the Beaman Family Tennis Complex in the Music City. The Bruins, who extended their perfect start in the Horizon League to 5-0, needed less than 90 minutes to defeat the visiting Lions (4-7, 1-4 Horizon).

Earning its sixth sweep of the season, Belmont gave up very few games throughout its lineup en route to the Bruins' seventh consecutive victory.

Juniors Alfred Wallin and Tomas Luis both picked up double bagel, 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles action and the tandem of Luis and sophomore Gabriel Sardo claimed a 6-0 doubles triumph.

Luis and Sardo topped Lindenwood's Pavle Drobnjakovic and Mattis Lamm at third doubles before the nationally-ranked duo of graduate student Marko Ilic and junior Riccardo Trione secured the doubles point at the top spot with a 6-1 win over the Lions' Carlos Rodriguez and Anton de la Puente. Wallin and senior Jack Randall led Lindenwood's Alonso De Prada and Fernando Martin Paz 4-3 at No. 2 doubles when Ilic and Trione clinched the opening point.

Wallin made quick work of de la Puente on court two and Luis dismissed De Prada on court three. Sardo then finished off the match at No. 5 singles with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win against Lamm.

Trione was up 6-3, 4-1 on Martin Paz at the fourth position and Ilic was in control at the top spot versus Rodriguez, 6-2, 3-2. Randall was just about to start his No. 6 singles match with Drobnjakovic when Sardo closed out the afternoon.
