NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont university women's soccer (1-0-0) travels to Murfreesboro, Tenn. for their first away match of the season against Middle Tennessee (0-0-1) on Sunday, Aug. 20.
The Bruins are coming off their 1-0 victory over North Alabama, where senior
Anna Sweeney scored the only go of the match 57 seconds into play. Head Coach Kelsey Cameron also notched her first win as the team's head coach.
WHAT'S BRUIN?
- The Bruins won their season opener 1-0 against North Alabama on Aug. 18.
- Anna Sweeney scored the only goal of the match 57 seconds into the match. Her 18th career goal was the fifth-fastest goal scored in program history.
- Sweeney's goal was her first since Sept. 22, 2022, and snapped a personal 10-match streak without a goal.
- Senior goalkeeper Sarah Doyle captured her 11th career shutout after making three saves against North Alabama. She has now recorded back-to-back opening day shutouts (Belmont won 3-0 against Union on Aug. 18, 2022).
- The last time Belmont won a one-goal match was Oct. 16, 2022, against Evansville, by a score of 2-1.
- The last time Belmont won a match 1-0 was Illinois State on Oct. 2, 2022.
- The Bruins went 3-3 last season in one-goal matches.
- Belmont went 2-3-3 in matches at home and 3-2-3 on the road last season.
- The Bruins are 6-11-2 all-time against Middle Tennessee. They've gone 1-2-2 in the last five matchups. The last time Belmont beat the Blue Raiders was Aug. 18, 2017, by a score of 3-2.

Scouting the Blue Raiders
- Middle Tennessee opened their season with a 1-1 draw against Louisiana. Cambell Kivisto scored in the 59th minute assisted by Idun Kyaale
- The Blue Raiders are led by five graduate students in 2023, four returning and one newcoming. Goalkeeper Hannah Suder, defender Caroline Manley, forward Cambell Kivisto and forward Elizabeth Slavinsky all return for their fifth seasons in 2023. In addition, the program brings in defender Kaitlyn Butcher as a graduate transfer from George Mason.
- MTSU finished 2-12-3 last season, and 0-8-2 in Conference USA play.
