BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The Belmont University Volleyball program (1-3) hit the road to face No. 22 Western Kentucky University (3-1). The Hilltoppers controlled the match from first serve and swept the Bruins.
How it Happened
Belmont got off to a slow start in set one and quickly found themselves down 2-6. Logan Grevengoed continued the Tops' hot start with a pair of kills to spark a 6-0 run midway through the first. Aggressive serving allowed the Tops to force the Bruins out of system and generate quick points. The team recorded 13 aces throughout the match.
WKU would remain in control the rest of the set and take set one 7-25.
Belmont made adjustments heading in to set two, including changes to the front court line up. The Bruins subbed in
Ally Peterson who contributed one kill and
Kristen Clemons who recorded two blocks. Despite the adjustments, WKU continued to remain on top throughout set two claiming an 11-25 win.
Set three was a battle early, and Belmont continued to hang with the ranked Tops until late. The Bruins went on an early 4-0 run behind an ace from
Elizabeth Godfrey and a block by
Kamryn Olson. The fight continued throughout the final set until WKU took back over and raced to finish the set 18-25.
