NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Women's soccer returns to E.S. Rose Park on Friday night for a non-conference match against Cleveland State. The match is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff on ESPN+.
What's Bruin
- The Bruins plays their first home match since the season opener against North Alabama on Aug. 17.
- Sunday's 2-0 loss to Vanderbilt was the first match this season that Belmont had been shutout.
- Three different players have scored Belmont's three goals: Anna Sweeney (Aug.17 vs. North Alabama), Leah Firsdon (Aug. 20 vs. Middle Tennessee), and Kennedy Wise (Aug. 24 vs. Eastern Kentucky).
- Belmont is 12-8-3 at E.S. Rose Park in the last four seasons.
- 2022 All-MVC Third Team honorees Sarah Doyle and Maci Pekmezian return for the Bruins this season.
- Doyle ranks second in the MVC with 20 saves on the season.
- Four Bruins hail from Ohio: Anna Sweeney, Carly Ross, Leah Firsdon, and Natalie Haverland.
Scouting the Vikings
- Cleveland State is 1-3 on the season. They come into the match off a 2-0 loss to Kent State.
- The Vikings were projected to finish fifth in the Horizon League in the coaches' poll.
- The Vikings return all three Horizon League award winners from last season: Kathryn Ramicone and Rylee Bussen earned Second Team honors, and Eleanor Simkonis on the All-Freshman team.
- Ramicone enters her final season with 15 career goals, five back of becoming the all-time leading scorer in program history. Maddie Young, also in her final season, has 11 career tallies.
- Ramicone is third with 38 points and Young is ninth with 29 points, both behind the leader, Natalie Daniels with 57 points.
