NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University women's cross country team had an excellent showing on Saturday morning at the John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana.Â
In their return to the Lavern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, the Bruins claimed first place in a field of 18 teams, with 60 total points, finishing ahead of Indiana, Kansas State and Purdue among other schools.
Kaitlyn Vanderkolk led the way for the Belmont, finishing atop the field of runners with a time of 17:10. Brooke Garter was the Bruins other top five finisher, as she crossed the line in 17:31.
Katie Flaherty was the next Belmont runner to finish, as she earned 10th in 17:46.4.
Brooke Stromsland, Grace Litzinger and Alex Fortman were the next three Bruins to finish in 21st, 24th, and 25th.
Clara Crain finished 40th overall, while Maddy Malczewski and Carson Wasemiller finished in 19:10.6 and 19:18.7, respectively.
Betsy Gordon rounded out a successful racing day for Belmont in 20:49.8.
