Bruins Earn Three Points Tuesday Afternoon at Presbyterian

Men’s Soccer Picks Up Second True Road Win of the Season with 3-1 Victory

CLINTON, S.C. – Three different Bruins scored and the Belmont University men's soccer team earned three points Tuesday afternoon with a 3-1 non-conference victory at Presbyterian College. Securing their second true road win of the season, the Bruins (4-3-2) overcame an early 1-0 deficit and found the back of the net twice before the end of the first half.

Junior midfielder Rubyn Singh Gill had the equalizer in the 24th minute and sophomore defender Dylan Steely scored the go-ahead goal in the 42nd minute. Senior midfielder Sam Rowan completed Belmont's scoring for the day in the 74th minute.

Scoring at least three goals for the second time this year, the Bruins were efficient in their attack. Belmont converted three of its four shots on target, including its lone shot on goal in the second half.

Despite the Blue Hose (4-4-0) putting together chances and outshooting the Bruins in the second 45 minutes of action, Belmont continually made stops and allowed only one second-half corner kick.

Presbyterian defender Reudd Manin found his way to a 14th-minute strike that gave the hosts the early lead. However, 10 minutes later Singh Gill notched his first goal as a Bruin following a feed from graduate midfielder Jansen Wilson.

With just under three-and-a-half minutes remaining in the half, Steely broke free for his second goal of the season on a pass from Rowan.

On Belmont's first shot in the second half over 28 minutes in, it was Rowan who found the space between the posts. Recording his first career goal, Rowan was assisted by both Steely and graduate forward Case Cox.

In the 77th minute the Blue Hose were rewarded a penalty kick, but midfielder Carson Griffith's boot was saved by junior goalkeeper Grant Calvert.

The Bruins gave up nothing in the final 13 minutes of the match.

Of Note
- Belmont snapped a two-match slide with its matinee performance Tuesday. The Bruins had been shut out in both of their previous two outings.
- Belmont improves to 4-0 all-time versus Presbyterian. The Blue Hose's first-half score was the first goal the Bruins have conceded in the series.
- Against non-conference opponents this season Belmont is 4-1-2.
- The win is the Bruins' first this year when conceding the opening goal.
- With his third assist of the season, Wilson is now tied for the team lead.
- Both Rowan and Steely notched their first assists of the season. Rowan's was his first helper since the unique 2020-21 season while at Saint Louis University.
