NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Volleyball Program (7-13, 2-6 MVC) fell in four to UIC (14-6, 6-2 MVC) on Friday.Â

How it Happened
UIC took an early 7-10 lead. A kill from
Brenna Kauffeld later sparked a 4-0 run by the Bruins to take their first lead of the set at 17-15.
Lucy Kay rattled off back-to-back kills to extend the lead at 20-16. Belmont pushed to take the first 25-22.

The Flames got a hot start in the second going up 3-8. A block from
Missy Sterkel and Kay capped off a late run from the Bruins to even the score at 19 all.
Brooke Gilleland recorded a kill to give Belmont their first lead of the set at 21-20. UIC would eventually edge out the Bruins 22-25 in the second.

Belmont fell behind 5-12 early in the third. UIC continued to stay in control extending their lead at 9-21. The Bruins put together a late run featuring a pair of kills from
Emily Warmenhoven and Gilleland to bring the set within five at 18-23. Despite the attempt to come back, the Flames went on to take the third 18-25.

The Bruins got off to another slow start in the fourth. Belmont was unable to create scoring runs as UIC went on to claim the fourth set and match 15-25.
