Eliza Paisley and Sydney Jones Earn MVC Weekly Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - The Missouri Valley Conference announced Tuesday afternoon two Bruins took home MVC Weekly Awards for Oct. 22. Eliza Paisley was named Defender of the Week and Sydney Jones won Goalkeeper of the Week for the second consecutive week.
 
Eliza Paisley scored her second career goal in Belmont's 4-0 victory over Valparaiso on Oct. 17. Paisley's goal in the 60th minute was part of a four-goal second half for the Bruins; the most goals scored by Belmont in a half since Oct. 8, 2017. Her efforts assisted Belmont in scoring the most goals in a single match since Oct. 6, 2019. The junior defender played a significant role in Belmont securing two shutout victories at home. A native of Franklin, Tenn., Paisley was named MVC Defender of the Week previously this season on Sept 24.
 
Sydney Jones put together another impressive week in goal for Belmont, with two shutout wins at home against Valparaiso and SIU. Jones made seven saves in Belmont's 3-0 victory over SIU on Oct. 20. The graduate goalkeeper brings her season shutout total to six, with an MVC-best five in conference play. Jones leads all MVC goalkeepers with a .881 save percentage in MVC matches and ranks third with 74 saves on the season. The clean week marks the second time Jones has not allowed a goal in a two-match week this season. A native of Denver, Colo., Jones was previously named MVC Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 17 and Sept. 24.
 
Belmont enters the final week of the regular season tied for third in the MVC with 16 points and a 5-3-1 conference record. The Bruins wrap up the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 27, at Indiana State. Kickoff from Memorial Stadium is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
