SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Belmont University Volleyball Program (8-15, 3-8 MVC) fell in three sets to Missouri State (9-14, 3-8 MVC) Saturday night.

How it Happened
Belmont and Missouri State went back-and-forth to start the match. A block from
Lucy Kay and
Bella Mathis brought the Bruins within two at 10-12. The Bears started to pull away and eventually took set one 17-25.

The Bruins got off to a strong start in the second.
Kamryn Olson served up an ace to extend the lead at 11-6. Lexi Smollenlater added a kill to keep the Bruins up two at 15-13. Despite the early lead, Missouri State put together a run down to stretch to claim the second 20-25.

Missouri State took a nine-point lead midway through set three. Belmont made a run of their own sparked by a kill from
Kristen Clemons to bring the set within five at 13-18. The Bears would go on to win the third set and match 17-25.
