Casey Alexander announced Wednesday the signing of Jack Smiley to play basketball for the Bruins, starting in the fall of 2025.
The 6-2 guard averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.9 assists for Valparaiso High School his junior year, advancing to the Indiana Class 4A Sectional semifinal.
"Our coaching staff loves Jack's combination of skill level, basketball IQ, and confidence. Scoring has always been his greatest strength – and we are excited about that – but he brings so much more to the table."
Smiley ranks eighth in program history with 1,164 career points.
He started his senior season at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana.
La Lumiere is ranked No. 5 nationally by Sports Illustrated.
The Valparaiso, Indiana native is ranked among the top combo guards in the upper Midwest.
Smiley is ranked as the No. 11 Class of 2025 prospect from the state of Indiana by 247 Sports.
Smiley played AAU basketball for Indy Heat, where had multiple games of 25+ points this past summer.
Belmont University men's basketball has been a postseason fixture the last two decades, including nine berths to the NCAA Tournament.
