Men's Basketball Rings in New Year Wednesday at Northern Iowa

Bruins Lead MVC in Assists & Assist-Turnover Ratio

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball rings in the new year Wednesday at Northern Iowa.

Belmont fell to [rv/rv] Drake Sunday. The Bruins entered Christmas as one of only five programs undefeated in true road games with at least three victories (Duke, Memphis, St. Bonaventure, Longwood).

Sam Orme and Brody Peebles each scored in double figures to lead the Bruins.

Belmont ranks top 3 in the Missouri Valley Conference in eight statistical categories, including first in assist-turnover ratio and assists per game.

Belmont is one of six MVC teams to rank Top 50 nationally in effective field goal percentage – which accounts for 2-point and 3-point field goals.

This marks the first time since its inaugural NCAA Division I season of 1996-97 that Belmont enters a campaign having to replace all five starters.

Belmont went 20-13 last season, finishing fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference.
