NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team was edged by Eastern Kentucky 4-3 in a match played indoors Friday night at the Ensworth Tennis Center in Nashville.
The visiting Colonels picked up the doubles point as they captured positions one and two. At one, Evzen Holis and Fernando Bulnes beat
Alfred Wallin and
Ruben Busch 6-4. Then at three, J.Anurag Reddy and Kristoff Stahlbrand defeated
Gabriel Sardo and Niklas Van Hellens 6-2.
In singles, the two teams split the six singles matches, but EKU clinched the match victory in the last match on court at number six as Stahlbrand outlasted Busch in three sets: 6-3, 6-7, 7-6.
The Bruins picked up singles wins on courts one, three and four. At one, senior
Alfred Wallin in straight sets over Mario Monclus Martin 6-1, 6-1. Fellow senior
Ian Cruz won at three over Fernando Bulnes 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, while Niklas Von Hellens defeated Moritz Mayer 6-4, 6-4.
The men's tennis team (0-3) is back in action on Sunday as they play at Chattanooga at 11:00am CT.
